Jo Malone Collection Review

I came across the Jo Malone fragrances years ago but never really thought about purchasing any until they relocated their Auckland Chancery store to Britomart’s Takutai Square. It was then, that I went in and smelt the amazing array of perfumes and colognes they had to offer.

My first purchase was a new release in 2013; Peony and Blush Suede. I remember spraying it in the store and coming back an hour later to purchase it.

This scent is just as the name describes. It is a soft floral, with juicy apple notes, ending with a hint of suede. It is also mentioned as having notes of Jasmine, Rose and Gillyflower. I am not surprised I like the fragrance, as I am obsessed with Jasmine.

My next purchase was Earl Grey and Cucumber. Don’t be fooled by the name, I was extremely surprised when I sprayed this on myself, how much it transformed and developed. At first it smells very fresh and citrusy, however after that I found it smelt so clean but warm at the same time. The Bergamot from the Earl Grey really comes through. Personally I don’t smell such a Cucumber scent – but I’m fine with that.

My latest purchase is Blue Agave and Cacao. This fragrance is grouped under floral which is not something I expected. I find this to be a heavier scent especially in comparison with the other two I own. I enjoy wearing this on cold nights or when I’m going out for dinner as it’s quite a sexy scent.

Blue Agave and Cacao is described as being “Sexy, edgy and persuasive. Fresh limes and zesty grapefruit dance over a heart of blue agava flower. Sea salt cuts through the primitive rawness of cacao to reveal the sensuality of vetiver, cinnamon and musk.” – Jo Malone

The next fragrance I purchase from this amazing line is going to be Wood Sage and Sea Salt. Definitely spritz this on yourself to get a true sample of the fragrance. I found when it was simply sprayed on a tester card I didn’t think much of it. It wasn’t until it had developed a little on the skin that I couldn’t stop smelling my wrist and fell in love once again. This is something I noticed with all Jo Malone fragrances; they can really change once mixed with your natural scent, so definitely try these on and shop around a little, to see if you really like something.

Where to purchase – Britomart Jo Malone, Smith & Caughey’s or Duty Free Auckland Airport.

Costs: 100ml $228 & 30ml $114

The Tangle Teezer is one of my hair savers! I’ve had this one for about 2yrs now and use it religiously when my hair is wet or when I want to softly brush out some curls or waves in my hair.

It is gentle and minimises breakage so it’s perfect for all of you who are concerned about damaged hair.

Your hair is at its weakest when wet, therefore the Tangle Teezer is the perfect brush to use, to get through those knots without breaking your hair. I also use it to distribute my leave in products when wet.

There are a range of different size and coloured Tangle Teezers you can purchase, depending what you are after.

You can purchase from most pharmacies and they retail for approximately NZ$28.

If you read my last fitness post you would have seen that I’ve decided to sort my lifestyle out and begin exercising.

So to go with that exercise I need the perfect outfit to wear right!? Any excuse to shop and spend money.

I went online to have a look a Lululemon. I hadn’t purchased anything for a while from them so decided, screw it, I’m going to buy something. Especially since I had just sold a bunch of things on Trademe.

I scoped out a few pieces of clothing online and came across a number of items I was interested in.

It was time to go try them out in store, lucky for me they even had a little sale going on.

I ended up splurging on a few pieces in the end, sadly the majority not on sale – feeling spendy!?

I’m excited to wear some of these new pieces to work out! They’ve got me feeling motivated and confident to go to the gym and do my thing.

The High Times Pants

I love how these hold your tummy in so you feel secure and flat when working out. I wanted this grey colour for over a year now and have been waiting for them to re-release it! I missed out the last couple times. They’re so cute and could look great with some white converse and a waterfall cardigan for more of a day time relaxed look.

Ta Ta Tamer 3 in Seal Grey

This is the perfect sports bra for girls with larger busts. I’m pretty sad I can’t fit most of Lululemon amazing sports bra designs – I often love their different back features but thankfully they have the Ta Ta Tamer which does cater to us bustier girls. When I saw this new seal grey colour I just had to have it! It fits so well, especially being a bra style which adjusts at the back and straps. There are removable inserts as well, in case you don’t want that extra bit of moulding.

Y Top in Pink

I’m not someone who EVER wears pink. But there was something about this pink, I really liked. Because it looked great with the grey high times pants, I purchased it. I also figured it would look even better with the black ones I already had. The top has a built in shelf bra – something I don’t usually like but I tried it on with nothing under and it surprisingly looked OK still. The top has some thin removable inserts in the bust – I’ll be removing mine as if I was to wear a sports bra underneath it becomes quite bulky with the shelf bra AND some moulding.

Also with this top being marked down to $29 from $69 it was an absolute steal!

Swiftly Tech Long Sleeve in Lilac

This lilac tone is my absolute FAV colour. I love it so much that I decided I HAD TO purchase something in this colour. I had seen these long sleeve tops online and always wanted one. I sized up quite a bit as I didn’t want it to be super tight. The thumb hole detail is always an added plus for me. The fabric has silverscent technology which means it inhibits the growth of bacteria, which causes us to smell, especially when working out.

Speed Crop in Navy

These cropped work out pants are the PERFECT length for me. Being quite short, with especially short legs, the cropped styles tend to be full length. This means no bunched up fabric at the ankles, making you look bulky. I love the panel detailing on these pants, they are so flattering to the figure. But it is the rouged ankle detail in particular which drew me to these crops. I’m a sucker for things with a little added detail, making them just a tad more unique than the average item. The navy colour is also a nice change from the common basic black, and it still goes with all the other Lululemon items I own.

They only had half the items I wanted in stock so I ordered the pants and bra online in the size/colours I wanted. The shipping is free so it is super convenient. Not to mention it arrives pretty fast – I ordered Sunday and received the package by Wednesday.

I already have a few items from Lululemon and they’re by far the best quality fitness wear I’ve ever purchased. Also, if you ever get sick of your clothes and want to purchase something new, they hold great value on Trademe so you can get close to what you paid for, for items – another great perk.
